The Federal Government is open again, but for how long? One thing I've learned is that there are a lot of working Americans who face food insecurity. And SNAP cuts are another part of the Big Bullsh*t Bill, so while the immediate crisis is coming to an end, I'm trying to be mindful.
Please support your local food banks however you can. Time and talent is invaluable! Food banks can take every dollar we donate and buy at least $1.50 worth of groceries. Lastly, if you have food items you can donate now is the time.

Here is a list of staple products that the food banks need:
Fresh produce
Eggs still in the shell
We are unable to accept donations of unprocessed eggs or eggs from backyard chickens.
Baked goods
Frozen foods in original packaging
Dairy products 41˚F maximum to expiration date
Meat, poultry, chilled to 41˚F maximum or frozen
Canned and packaged goods in original packaging
Wild game processed in a USDA approved facility
Prepared foods chilled to 41˚F maximum that have not been served or placed on a buffet
Chilled perishable packaged foods such as juice and cheese in their original packaging

Peanut butter (non-hydrogenated oil)
Canned meat/fish (chicken, salmon, tuna)
Canned fruit in fruit juice
Whole grain, low sugar cereal

Canned and/or dried beans (low sodium or not salt added preferred)

Diapers (Preemie and sizes 5, 6 & 7 are most needed)
